The Great Commission

Where does our website name come from?

Well, it comes from what’s known as “The Great Commission” from Jesus. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus says, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

We propose that becoming and being a disciple (think student or apprentice) of Jesus is too often overlooked and bypassed, to the detriment of the mission and the individual. There is a missing gap in both what it means and how to be a disciple of Jesus. What we have today is more along the lines of recruiters making recruiters, more akin to multi-level marketing then being apprentices to a master.

We hope to help fill that gap in whatever small way, so that we can together learn to do all the things Jesus taught us to do. Then, as we go, more disciples will naturally be made as lives lived apprenticed to Jesus cannot help but draw attention and questions from others, like a city set on a hill or a light in a dark place.
